Books About Town

I had no idea something like this existed!  But I think it's great.  Awhile back in the city of Harrisburg, PA - closest city to my house had a cow exhibit.  This summer they have dinosaurs for the Dyno-Mite summer.  Local business's sponsor the dinos to be painted and then some are auctioned off.  I'm not really sure who would want a big T-rex all painted up in their yard.  But kudos for you if you do!  Money goes to good cause, well worth it.

How did I find out about this little London gem when I've never crossed the pond?  Glad you asked my friend.  A local library has the Dr. Seuss bench as her picture, she was able to travel to London and see the benches first hand.  I'm sure that was glorious to see and touch and be able to sit on.

In London they have Books About Town: Benches!

I'm in LOVE.  In LOVE!  We need them here in America.

Each bench is done after a book.

Around the World in 80 Days
By Jules Verne

My favorite

Mary Poppins
by PL Travers

Wouldn't it be great to have something like this in America.  With our authors.  There are hundreds, millions of books out there that would be perfect for a bench.  I'd love to see the 50 Shades of Grey bench, equipped with shackles and a flogger.  Maybe that is pushing it, just a little bit.

Since the 50 Shades bench is out, what about The Great Gatsby?  Oh, so many ideas for that bench.  Little Women....oh the ideas!   What Books would you like to see as benches?

My vote - The Road by Cormac McCarthy.  I'd love to see what an artist would create.  My imagination runs wild with just some small ideas and bursts of ideas.

Top 10 books I'd love to see as a bench

My 5 Classic novels
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Robinson Crusoe by Daniel DeFoe and John Lee
1984 by George Orwell
Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

My 5 Future Classic Novels
GoT by George R R Martin
True Blood by Charlaine Harris
Beautiful Disaster by Jamie Macguire
The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman
The Hunger Games by Susan Collins

Yeah, that sounds pretty awesome.  There are other books too that I'd love to see have a bench.  But like 50 Shades of Grey I'm not sure how much is too much for the public eye.  Especially around children.  S.D. Hildreth's book - Fuck Buddies - yeah, Love that one.  Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan would be another great one!  There are millions of books out there that would make a great bench!

Your turn!  Tell me what benches you'd love to see here in America.  You can PM if it's naughty or you might blush.  I promise my lips are sealed.
