Beards, brothers, and bikers! Oh my!
Identical twins Beau and Duane Winston might share the same devastatingly handsome face, but where Beau is outgoing and sociable, Duane is broody and reserved. This is why Jessica James, recent college graduate and perpetual level headed good girl, has been in naïve and unhealthy infatuation with Beau Winston for most of her life. His friendly smiles make her tongue-tied and weak-kneed, and she’s never been able to move beyond her childhood crush. Whereas Duane and Jessica have always been adversaries. She can’t stand him, and she’s pretty sure he can’t stand the sight of her…
But after a case of mistaken identity, Jessica finds herself in a massive confusion kerfuffle. Jessica James has spent her whole life paralyzed by the fantasy of Beau and her assumptions of Duane’s disdain; therefore she’s unprepared for the reality that is Duane’s insatiable interest, as well as his hot hands and hot mouth and hotter looks. Not helping Jessica’s muddled mind and good girl sensibilities, Duane seems to have gotten himself in trouble with the local biker gang.
Certainly, Beau’s magic spell is broken. Yet when Jessica finds herself drawn to the man who was always her adversary, now more dangerous than ever, how much of her level-headed heart is she willing to risk?
I entered a contest to win this book, needless to say I didn't win, but I decided it looked good and I'm going through my bearded men phase. So it fit perfectly!
Jessica James is back in her home town working as a High School Math Teacher. Not much has changed in her home town, she still has a mad crush on Beau Winston. He always left her speechless with his smiles and his, well self. Its only after a frantic groping session behind the curtain, that she realizes it's not Beau she was making out with, but his surly brother Duane. Who taunted her growing up. Like a light switch she realizes, maybe it wasn't Beau she wanted all along, that maybe Duane and all his teasing made her heart pitter patter. But how could that be? Could it work? She was only planning on staying for about 2 years, so what could really come out of this? Nothing but wasted time on her part. Or is this her chance at love?
I love all the Winston brother's. They are all so unique, but Cletus he stole the show when he was talking about his sausage. That was so funny. I can't wait for his story, but I know that will be years off since he in High School. My favorite brother had to be Billy, he was a mystery and I can't wait to learn more about him. Jethro and Miss Claire have to have a story some where in all this. HINT HINT!! The Winston family is amazing all on it's own, with all the characters and their ways. Honestly I'd take any of the Winston boys, as long as they had a beard!!!
I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked up this book. I mean I read the description, but still not sure. Let's just say I ugly cried at one point when Duane pulled his little no-selfish, selfish act. It pissed me off and it didn't even happen to me! Penny Reid writes a good story with plenty of emotion and heart wrenching scenes that will immerse you into the book. I loved how they talked and act. How you felt like family.
