Desert Chimera - Book Review

Blurb:

Desert Chimera is the first book in the Stone Quest Series and introduces the reader to recluse, tracker, and reluctant twenty-eight year old pyschic visionary Luke Stone. Luke has been sequestered in the serene woods of Northern Michigan under the tutelage of Cherokee guide Shadow Wolf. When the shaman suddenly dies, Luke flees on a desperate cross country quest. In the heart of Death Valley, Luke is assaulted by terrifying visions of the apocalypse. While praying in agony for release, a shimmering spector arises from the sands to stand beside him. But this is not the one Luke has been seeking. Instead, this is the One from whom Luke had sought escape seven years ago. Now,must confront the full horrors of his past. A battle ensues that will culminate in either Luke's final destruction or his ultimate redemption.

4Stars

The age old tale of Good Vs. Evil. Only who is on what side and what are the demands? Your soul? Your life? What are you willing to give up?! Because everything costs something!

Death Valley is the arena for the final battle. Come sit down for a spell and watch as life flourishes or dies.

Luke has traveled across the dessert, only to meet up with a moxie crew of people at a Cafe. Its there that Armand Jacobi appears. He wants Luke and will stop at nothing, besides death to get him. But can Luke and the others in the cafe keep the evil out? Or will they fall under Armand's spell??

I loved the characters, how they were developed and all very different. The story moved at a pretty good pace. Some of the flash backs did drag on a bit. But they are key to understanding Luke and why he is the way he is.

I would say this book is more of paranormal or sci-fi genre, It takes old ancient magic and folds it into the present. Entwining old with new and creating a compelling story.
